How to Get Feedback on Your YouTube Script

Where to get honest feedback on your YouTube script: friends, communities and free AI tools, plus what to fix first once the notes come in.

Quick answer: Ask two or three readers who aren't trying to be nice, and give them questions that point at a line: "Where did you lose interest?" and "What did you expect next?" Fix the spots two readers agree on, starting with the hook.

Say you've written the camera-settings draft from our script-check guide. Here's how to get notes on it you can actually use, in four steps.

1. Pick readers who aren't trying to be nice

Friends read politely. Family reads kindly. Pick one creator, who will spot structure problems, and one person who watches your niche, who will tell you where they got bored. Swap scripts with other creators and read theirs first. It's the fastest way to earn a careful read back.

2. Ask questions that point at a line

"Any thoughts?" gets "looks good." When one creator posted a script on r/NewTubers, they asked: "Did you understand what was going on? Did it seem interesting? Funny? Would you want to watch this series on YouTube?" (see the r/NewTubers post). Each answer points at a place in the script.

  • Weak note: "The hook didn't grab me."
  • Useful note: "I stopped caring at line four, because nothing new happened."

3. Trust where they drifted, not how they'd fix it

Readers are good at noticing when they got bored and bad at saying why. Where they lost interest is data. Their suggested fix is a guess. When two readers flag the same spot, believe them, even if you love that part.

4. Fix in this order

  1. Hook
  2. Structure
  3. Pacing
  4. Word choice and jokes

Before you wait days on friends, run the draft through the free YouTube script checker. On our camera draft it flagged the generic intro and the camera backstory. It won't laugh at your jokes. That still takes one honest human.
